ScandAR

The Second Annual Scandinavian Workshop on Augmented Reality

December 8th and 9th 2011

Aalborg University, Aalborg Øst, Denmark

On December 8th and 9th, 2011, Aalborg University in Denmark will host the second ScandAR workshop and would like to invite all those interested in Augmented Reality to attend.

Augmented Reality (AR) is a field of research that explores how the digital content can be seamlessly blended with the real world. Although the first AR systems were developed over forty years ago the field has recently become very popular due to the availability of easy to use tools and growing number of commercial applications.

There are a number of research groups in Scandinavia that have been conducting research in AR and related areas, however in some cases these groups have been disconnected from each other. This workshop continues on from the first ScandAR meeting organized by Mark Billinghurst and Savioja Lauri that was held in Helsinki, December 2010. The goal of the workshops is to conduct an informal meeting that allows Scandinavian [1]researchers to network with each other, present research work from their research groups, and discuss common areas for future work.

Participation

Attendees can participate in the workshop in a number of ways:

The community to-date represented at the workshop is interested in presentations that relate to all aspects of Augmented Reality including but not limited to: AR hardware and software, tracking and display technologies, user interface/experience design, general application design considerations, evaluation methods, industrial, home and leisure applications and future research directions. We strongly support interdisciplinary research and are interested in a broad mix of attendees to enable spirited discussions.

Attendees who would like to give a presentation should contact the organizers below.
